Good, but exam is different from book.

My background (because a review is irrelevant without perspective on the reviewer) :
-I used this book as my sole reference for exam preparation.
-I passed the exam a few days ago on my first attempt, with about 30 hours of study.
-I had no formal project management experience or knowledge prior to this exam.
-I am very used with technical self-study with books.
-English is my third language.
I found this book very well written and easy to understand. No unnecessary joke attempts.
You can tell that the author has a great deal of experience both on the matter and how to explain it.
I used to manage my projects intuitively and knew there was a better to do it, simply and efficiently.
This book provides just that.
The summaries and the "exam essentials" at the end of each chapter are very useful. I read them all just before the exam.
The only downside I found was that the questions I had in my actual exam were disturbingly different from the ones in the book and CD.
So different that I thought I'd fail the exam.

Great Resource for the Project+ Exam

This book is a great resource if you are preparing for the Project+ Exam. The choices for books on the PK0-003 exam were somewhat limited; and although this book had a limited number of reviews, I chose this book because of the reviews I read. I have had some formal project management training, so I was familiar with the topics. The book was a bit dry but definitely had all of the material needed to pass the exam. I recommend reviewing all of the practice questions until you fully understand them. (I passed the Project+ test with a high score, first try, after reading this book.)

This Book Could Have Been Much Better

Well, the good news is I am Project+ certified. Much of my thanks in this endeavor was thanks to this book. I am really glad I own a Kindle though. Mind you, I have 7+ years of Project Management methodology experience (I was never a PM, but I've been to plenty of Project Kick-Offs, been a team member and team lead in numerous projects...familiar with terms such as stakeholders, project sponsors, lessons learned...)
Halfway through Chapter 1, I had to turn on Text To Speech on my Kindle, just to keep myself awake. Mind you, in the other Kindle book I read and reviewed, I did not need that feature. The writer really didn't do a good job at keeping me engaged, but in regards to Project Management, it's really hard to get excited about. Her real world scenarios were good reads though. Plus, I was able to pass Project+. But in good conscience, I can't rate this any higher than a three. I had to turn on Text-To-Speech just so I could finish the book and then went back to the chapter summaries and Exam Essentials to bone up on what I was weak on. When I sat for the test, I was out in about 55 minutes (35 minutes to spare). I did not "slam dunk" this exam, but I did pass on my first try. Everything you need to do to pass this exam is in the summaries and exam essentials at the end of each chapter. If you need further clarifcation, then you have to go into the chapter and read it. However, the other book that I reviewed for the other certification I got in August, I didn't have to do that; I was able to read, understand and note easily on what I needed. (It was also more pages than this book too! LOL).
So in summary, download this to Kindle, turn on TTS (may want to lower the reading speed by one from the default), read the Summary and Exam Essentials at the end of each chapter, know every formula she talked about (especially lines of communications since that's an easy one), and hopefully, you too can pass this exam. Overall, I'm just happy with that. :)
